Wow, I go so soon.

When i think of India! I am scared. There are reasons. Like getting mugged, silly little reasons.

I feel selfish to say, it has taken me a while to know how lucky I am. I am so lucky to be able to travel to India. And then back to Ghana a place I love.

Kofi Annan is inspiring!

Hi everyone,

There are no excuses for me not posting for three or more weeks. Except thanksgiving in Maine with my wonderful extended family, lots of work to be done, and college applications.

Here are some goals that I have thought about:

1) Befriend a native

2) Listen to traditional Indian music

3) Learn some Hindu culture

4) Wear a sari

5) Be able to post on this three times a week!

6) Manage my money well, save money for Ghana!

7) Do lots of yoga!

8) Explore Madurai!

9) Converse with the people I work with!

10) Have fun! One more: not loose my ipod traveling this time.

I am also looking forward to Ghana, again! ABove is a picture I took this summer!

2 months, 14 days

November 9th 2010.
2 months, 14 days.......

I have some fears about this trip:

1) I will be gone from home for 4 months
2) How much I will get from this medical internship
3) My experience in Ghana will be different this time
4) No icecream!- I can live without this
5) I've been away from my family for 2 months, and it's a breeze, but 4 months?
6) Nothing familiar
7) Maybe less of a sense of freedom
8)Getting take advantage of

Some people might look down upon the fact that I have fears about going to Ghana again. But I still fear being there alone. But, I don't think that I should fear being there, because I love it so much and I know so many people there! But I love Ghana, so it should go well. Below is a picture of a little boy from New Life! Which is a place I love.

I feel like when you purchase you tickets for a trip, it's definitely official.

Ghana!

India here I come!

Hi Everyone,

I am very excited about my upcoming trip to India. Counting down the days and literally cannot wait. So far the Red Cross in Burlington has been very helpful and donated thousands of Band Aids, gloves and some kid bandaids. So I am very fortunate to have that to give to the local hospital I will be working at. I booked my plane tickets the other day and I will be leaving on the 23rd of Jan, less the 2 1/2 months till I leave. I think this is a kind of trip, in which you just have to play it by ear and see what happens.

A couple of weeks ago my friend Amy Doucette and I went out to a Taste of India in Middlebury and it made me think "yes, I can definitely live on this food for two months."

While in India I will be working at a local hospital with a midwife and nurse.

I will be staying with a host family in the city of Madurai, which is in the southern part of India.
(See above map, I am going to be staying near Goa)

I am going to be going with projects abroad, the NGO organization I went to Ghana with this summer.

See link: http://projects-abroad.org/destination/india/medicine-and-healthcare/

After 2 months in India, I will return to Ghana to work at Newness Prepatory School!

So I will also be blogging about that, instead of sending individual emails out.
